Pre-Requisite Requirements

Please ensure that delegates arrive in good time for the start of the course. In the event that individuals arrive after the stated start time, they may be excluded from the event and the full fee will be charged.

All delegates must be at least 16 years of age and be medically fit.

Delegates attending this course must have sufficient command of English language both written and verbal to allow delegates to address the assessment requirements of the qualification.

Please advise of any additional learning needs i.e. Dyslexia in advance of the course.

Overview

This qualification is for the entry controller (the person who controls arrangements and subsequent entry for the confined space,) but does not include entering themselves. Unit provides pre-entry procedures, entry and exit into the confined space, communications that must be maintained and if required the implementation and control of emergency procedures

The aim of this unit is to follow the national occupational standard required for controlling entries and arrangements for procedures including entering, working in and exiting of the confined space. The qualification is applicable for both water and non-water and may include tasks for control of teams working in sewer treatment processes, tunnelling, drainage and sewer systems, or where a confined space is subject to the specified risks.

Course Content:

? Communicate and implementation of procedures for teams carrying out the task

? Control Safe entry and exit into the confined space

? Monitor the working party and ensure that procedures are adhered to

? If an emergency arises to control all aspects

? Be compliant and have an understanding of health and safety protocols and legislation

? Be confident with the processes and procedures expected for the role of entry controller

? Ensure all necessary equipment is safe and suitable and has been checked and tested
