Probationary SSOWP Assessment

Upon successful completion, competencies will be uploaded to Sentinel.

Pre-Requisite Requirements

Please check prior to attending this assessment that you have successfully carried out the required duties and completed the SSOW Experience Sheet.  This form must detail the following requirements:

  • evidence of a minimum of 4 SSOW entries recorded on the Work Experience form since the Initial Training took place (The assessor MUST see the actual packs either hard copy or electronically);
  • two work experience entries of track visits recorded on the Work Experience form since the Initial Training;
  • the Line Manager has reviewed the Work Experience form and signed/dated where required.

If the completed SSOW Work Experience form is not handed to the Assessor or has not been sufficiently completed, the candidate will not be eligible to be assessed and the assessment will have to be stopped.

 

Must be a minimum age of 18.

Meet the Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/0120 (Drugs & Alcohol).  A valid D&A must be on Sentinel.

Must have a valid Sentinel Smartcard endorsed with SSOWP.  Assessment competency expiry must not go past Valid Until Date.

Candidate must be available for contact by the assessor as a minimum the day before.

Must have sufficient command of English language, be literate in IT and mathematics and be conversant with Standard RT/L2/OHS/019 Safety of People Working on or Near the Line.

Please advise of any special needs i.e. dyslexia in advance of the course.

Must Bring Photo ID - For British Nationals, one of the following (original hard copy - not electronically): a current and valid branded form of identity token, used for accessing the RMI (Railway Maintained Infrastructure) such as a Sentinel Card; in-date and valid full driving licence; in-date and valid UK Provisional Photo Card Driving Licence; in-date and valid passport, a UK biometric ID Card/Residence Permit (BRP), an Armed Forces Identity Card, a proof of age card recognised under PASS with a unique reference number (this includes the Citizen ID Card), N.I. Electoral Identity Card or a resident permit as per Home Office guidance.

For Non-British Nationals - an in-date and valid passport, Identity Card or Driving Licence from an EU or European Economic Area (EEA) country or a US Passport Card is required (original hard copy - not electronically).

Please advise any requirements if a site specific induction is required for the assessor to enter the site and what arrangements are in place for these to be undertaken.  Failure to do this may result in the assessor being refused access and the assessment may not be carried out.
