Dear Customer,

We are writing to you with regards to the below communication from Network Rail:

https://info.railsentinel.co.uk/2020/06/23/covid-19-competence-and-medical-certificates-sentinel-extensions-update/?cn-reloaded=1

Network Rail have announced a further 2-month extension to the validity of all Sentinel and skills competencies.

Please see the quote below from Network Rail:

Managers are encouraged to book individuals back onto training and recertification where capacity exists. Reliance upon competence extension should now only be considered as a backup if individuals have been unable to book training due to limited spaces.

Like many businesses, the COVID-19 crisis has had a significant negative impact on our business operations and revenue. We would like to urge our customers to continue to support our business and to book individuals for training and recertifications.

There are advantages of booking your recertifications and assessments early and these are:

  • Our training centres are currently less busy than usual due to a significant lack of demand. Therefore, now is an ideal time for you to book your employees for training while there’s guaranteed capacity.
  • Our customers may have employees on furlough due to a downturn in operational worksites. This is an ideal opportunity for employees to attend training courses for both financial and productivity reasons.
  • You DO NOT lose any time on your competence validity. For example, if you have an employee whose PTS competence now expires on 1st October 2020, if they attend their recertification on 1st July 2020, should they pass the course their new expiry date would be 1st October 2022.

If you have any questions or require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,
