Pre-Requisite Requirements

 

You must not enter the building until 15 minutes before your course start time.

Prior to the event please let us know if there any circumstances that we need to be made aware of to ensure you gain the most from your learning experience (e.g. access, special needs, non-UK national, literacy, etc.)? 

Please bring ID for the duration of your time in centre. If you do not have ID you will not be able to sit the exam.

If the course has any workshop activity’s please bring with you appropriate PPE e.g. overalls, safety boots and safety glasses, if applicable.

Mewp courses only - If you have any previous MEWP experience please inform the trainer on arrival. Also please bring with you your previous IPAF Licence and IPAF Log Book.

As the safe use of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) requires that you consult safety notices and read and thoroughly understand the manufacturer’s instruction manual, literacy and language comprehension are important requirements for any MEWP user.

Similarly, as the assembly and use of MEWPs can be physically demanding, users should be physically fit and in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, fear of heights / vertigo, giddiness / difficulty with balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness.

If you are unable to attend the course(s), please notify the Course Administrator, IN WRITING, as soon as you know that you are unable to attend. The following cancellation policy applies:

Cancelled more than ten working days before the course – no charge;

Cancelled less than ten working days but more five working days – 50% charge;

Cancelled five or less working days before the course – full charge.


Should you arrive late for the course, it will be at the discretion of the Trainer as to whether or not you are admitted.

On Arrival –

Check the screen for your course and allocated room number, once you have done this please take a green lanyard from the wall beside reception.

Please advise of any additional learning needs, eg dyslexia.

End of the Day – Please return your green lanyard to the box under the table in reception and sanitise your hands, use the tablets to sign out the same way you signed in earlier in the day. Please be aware that the building will close at 5PM.

Lunch can be purchased from our canteen or your more than welcome to bring your own, we have fridges and a microwave for you to use.

Overview

This course is aimed at anyone involved in the management of fire safety and is based in an area where fire is a risk.

Learners gaining this qualification will understand that fire safety is the responsibility of everyone, and will recognise the causes of fire, common hazards and fire risk assessments. It can support those already in a workplace role or learners preparing for employment.
