Pre-Requisite Requirements

Delegates are required to bring protective hand and footwear, hard hat and a hi-vis vest / jacket

Courses for operatives & supervisors who require the knowledge & practical skills to work safely with steps and ladders.

Please advise of any additional learning needs, eg dyslexia.

AIM
Courses for operatives & supervisors who require the knowledge & practical skills to work safely with steps and ladders.

You will be competent to:

  •   Assess and determine when its appropriate to use ladders and stepladders.
  •   Correctly locate and safely use ladders and stepladders.
  •   Visually inspect ladders and stepladders for damage before and after use.

You will have an understanding of:

  •   Legislation and regulations affecting work at height.
  •   Product standards and classifications for ladders and stepladders
  •   Hazards affecting the use of ladders and stepladders

Course Content:

  •   Ladders and component parts.
  •   Overview of legislation and regulations.
  •   Work at Height Regulations.
  •   Standards and classifications.
  •   Planning and organising, selecting and using - STEP
  •   Assessing risks.
  •   Inspection and records.
  •   Storage, handling and maintenance
  • Theory and practical tests and assessments.

Note: Lunch and Welfare

Lunch is not provided on the course, however, complimentary tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day. You’re welcome to bring your own lunch; canteen and welfare facilities are available. You will also be made aware of local food outlets on the day.

Attendance and timings are essential for successful completion of the course; please ensure you arrive in good time and return from lunch as instructed.

Ladder Association (LA) courses are delivered by HSS Training at LA accredited centres or on site.  HSS Training uses the Ladder Association name and associated logos (“the LA Marks”) as a member of IPAF and under licence from The Ladder Association.
