Overview
Changing electrical components
- Safe isolation procedure (single-phase)
- Basic installation (changing items of equipment, stripping cables. This is a desktop exercise.
- Termination of cables
There is a mixture of theory and practical throughout the two days covering legislation, dangers of electricity, safe isolation, basic and fault protection, cable core colours and wiring of electrical accessories. Other topics include simple testing (functional), safe disposal of WEEE products and reporting procedures, including Point of Work Risk Assessing (POWRA).
Delegates will be involved in table-top wiring activities of simple circuits as a means of practicing terminating conductors during electrical accessory replacement. Safe isolation is practised using various points of work and the actual replacing of accessories is practiced on the existing test rigs, or portable rigs for off-site delivery
